The diameters of the bile duct system where measured before and after choledochal surgery in 101 patients. The diameter decreased the most in patients with extreme dilatation preoperatively, but frequently did not reach physiological measures. During the first days after surgery the decrease was the most essential. Age and sex had no obvious influence, neither had long standing complaints.
